Over a month ago I reported on an Ajax-powered domain name search site. The Instant Domain Search automatically determines whether a given name is available as a .com or .net domain. My original concern was that you could only easily buy a domain through Yahoo or Register.com.

After reporting on the site I determined that the database of unavailable domain names was not being updated very often. Recently they have improved the speed of the site. There are also now links to buy domains at Go Daddy, 1&1, and Yahoo. And the site says that the domain lists are updated twice a day. Now that’s what I was looking forward to hearing.

I’ve already found this site very useful as I am able to quickly determine whether a domain is available when I am coming up with names for new sites. And as Go Daddy is my registrar of choice, it’s even easier for me to order a domain now that Go Daddy is one of the choices.
