Should I Try World of Warcraft?
So I have this 2-week World of Warcraft trial from Comic-Con and I don’t know whether or not I should try it out. What do you think? Will I get addicted, or will I suck at it so badly that I stop playing long before the trial is up? The latter happened after trying Dungeons and Dragons Online, City of Villains, Darkstar One, and Prey. Although Prey was a limited-function demo, and D&D was the actual beta. Come to think of it, I haven’t gotten deeply involved in a game ever since I beta tested the Matrix Online and they lost my character. I didn’t feel like working at rebuilding the character anymore after that.
Let me know if you think I should test it. And the first person with a good reason either way gets first crack at a $25 gift card to SideshowCollectibles.com.

I’d say go for it. I was skeptical, similar to how you seem to be, when my friend gave me a 2 week trial for the game. I registered after a little while and found it very easy to get started playing, something that I can’t say for most Online Roleplaying Games which usually have clunky interfaces and confusing controls. I did get hooked, but not to the extend of some individuals that I’ve seen who stay up for days playing. Anyways, my two week subscription went away and I payed for the full version because of how much fun I was having. I play off and on now and find it to still be lots of fun, especially after meeting other players and playing in groups.
So yeah, go for it. Most likely you’ll find yourself having a good time (especially with group quest as I said) and won’t find yourself overly addicted to it.

I’d say don’t go for it. It’s a wast of time.
Why would you want to make a virtual character and get a high level with a lot of strength, stamina, agility, wisdom and what not.
While you could use that time for the real you work out get some more strength, learn something new to get more wisdom. Go out meet some real people and have some real fun.
I don’t have anything against playing games for pleasure and relaxation.
But playing WoW will consume your time and you will get lost in this virtual world until the point you will care more about your virtual character than the real you.
The real world is more fun just don’t be afraid to go out on a real adventure and gain a higher personal level in life.

Go ahead and try it, nothing to lose but a bit of time. More importantly is the fact that “we” the gaming community will have the inside buzz and we may be able to save a few bucks by not buying that which will not hold our intrest. Odds are that if Jason Schramm doesn’t like it, then neither will the majority of the hard core gamers out here. I honestly haven’t found any game that stands up to good old D&D. I played it for years and I guess that the fact that it was played in the presence of real live people had a lot to do with our enthuseism for it. By the way, I am more than fifty years old. Been on the gaming scene from the begining.

I was thinking of getting World of Warcraft but I finally decided not to for Mimoun’s reasons. I have played RPG like Final Fantasy X and at the end of the game (60 hours later) I realized that I had just wasted my life all for some stupid game with virtual characters. Then there were other games like Oblivion (50 hrs), Knights of the Old Republic (70hrs), Diablo 2 (250 hrs) and so on…
If RPG gamers like myself and especially MMORPG people dedicated all their time to something else they’d be a whole lot more successful and you’d never be able to stop them. Imagine spending 70 hours a month on something like exercise rather than a stupid virtual game. You’d probably be all cut and fit.
Or you could spend your time learning something like the piano or a programming language or even going out and socializing. Anything you do in the “real” world leads to growth as a person. (The real you not any virtual avatar)
I have too many friends that got sucked into World of Warcraft. While they may not get addicted to the point of no return they have reported neglecting their work, gfs, and other aspects of their life all for the sake of WOW.
My point is World of Warcraft is like a drug. Its too damn addictive. Granted, its a lof of fun to play but Weed is also a lot of fun to smoke.
Stay clear of it… IT’LL RUIN YOUR LIFE….
Btw, I love games and I think everyone should play games. However, play games like shooters and strategy games that don’t necessarily require you to pour countless hours and put your soul into.

Here’s the thing all in all the game is OK. The whole gist of it is to level, level, level, level create a player killing monster slaying superhero other than that there is nothing. I had never played MMORPG before and never will again for one reason paying anything after you’ve purchased the game to play it is just bad. You’ll feel like you are obligated to playing the game since you are paying for it that will begin the excuses not to do chores and such… I’ll let the rain get my car clean. So now that you feel obligated to play it’s not a game that you can play for 15 min and accomplish something in fact in 15 mins you’ll be lucky if you’ve walked from point A to point B. Reason 2 not to play it is utterly boring for every 3 hour sesion about and hour is probably spent walking. What are you walking for reason 3 not to play; there is no storyline so the random quest which there are tons are well pointless except to get you the all important XP. Quest themselves are ranked grey, green, yellow, orange, red and reason number 4 not to play is unless you have a friend willing to kiss his life goodbye the game will be unenjoyable and aggravating because for the most part you can’t solo the game. Grey quest are a waste of time, green you can solo, yellow solo will die some (more time spent walking back to body) orange will tick you off on all the time your spending getting nothing accomplished getting back to your corpse and red forget about it. I made the mistake and agreed to the 3 month contract and it took me only about a month to step back and see how physical drained I was from night after night going to bed at 2,3,4am so yes it is addictive. I thought to myself am I really accomplishing anything the game has no end so what’s the point and now I wait untill May when my subscription expires. I hate the game so much yet still feel drawn and obligated to play it since I’m spending 13.99 to play for 2 more months. Yet another night and it’s 1:40am and I’ve died for the last time abandoned all my quest and have come to terms with not playing what’s 28 bucks compared to peace of mind. I just wana save you before you get trapped. Chances are you’ll like it if you like Diablo 2 then you’ll like WOW but I’ve wasted a life time on d2 and finally gave that up when I soloed it hell level and again found myself thinking what did i accomplish, NOTHING. Games can be fun to fill a rainy day but just leave WOW on the shelf and find something better to do.

listen ere…World of Warcaraft is such a good game and it didnt take me long to get into it. But i would suggest that you dont get it if your a person who can’t quit something that your addicted to beacuse wow….this game is addictive. First you will start to deny that you are addicted but later on you will be playing it for hours on end and you wont want to stop playing. I know someone who went to extreme lengths to quit and threw his computer away. But if you are a loner and have no life or m8s and you dont have a very good job…………..GO FOR IT !!!!!
