Funny Commercials: Furniture Store and Drive-Thru

Here we have two funny commercials. The first one is a hilarious one for a furniture store. You really have to see it to believe it. And the second is for a Rally’s drive-thru. I’ve never seen one of these places around here, but they apparently have them elsewhere and are owned by Checkers.

Furniture store:

Rally’s rap cat:

Geico Caveman Commercial: Therapy Session

Here’s another Geico commercial. This time the caveman goes to a therapist.

Jan 26 Update: Identity of Caveman – According to this comment the caveman in this commercial is played by performer John Lehr. His website has this page that seems to confirm that he did act in at least 2 videos. You can see John in his new show on TBS called “10 Items or Less.”

Geico Caveman Commercial: Airport

Sometimes I come across a great commercial on television, and this is one of my recent favorites. The caveman is a great, expressive character who is always upset with the world’s view of his intelligence. And the music in this commercial really makes it. Checking Yahoo Answers I find that the song is “Remind Me” by Royksopp. Get the album Melody A.M. from Amazon, or buy the single song from Amazon MP3 Downloads

New Numa: The Return of Gary Brolsma

I seem to be a bit behind the times. This was released a month ago from the Numa Numa guy, who apparently lives in New Jersey. I smell an interview.

And the original for your viewing pleasure:

Nike McFly Commercial

Al Cabino sends word of a video that has been online for a little while. If you’ve ever seen the Back To The Future movies then you know what this is from. Apparently he is petitioning Nike to reproduce the Nike McFly high-tops from the second film (according to the ifilm synopsis). Are we all really that lazy? Yes, yes we are.

Snakes on a Plane: Mini Review

I saw Snakes on a Plane on Friday the day it opened. I must say that when I first heard the name of the movie I thought it was a joke. I only seriously became interested in seeing the film when I saw an exclusive 10 minute clip from the movie at Comic-Con. They also brought some of the snakes on stage, and it was impressive. They explained why there weren’t showing the movie to critics, and that they wanted people to be surprised by the movie.

Watching the movie for the first time, I was struck by the great cinematography and how well crafted the movie is. There are comedic moments, there are scary moments, and then there are action-packed scenes. I worried that it might have been to gory, but they craft a great mix of blood and skin. Just when you think you’ve had enough, they slow things down before building them up again.

I won’t give away much, but Snakes on a Plane was definitely worth the price of admission. You can find some of my Snakes on a Plane pictures in my trip album starting with the walk-through snake and then the night session with snakes.

Futurama Lives

I must say I am incredibly excited that Futurama will be returning with at least 13 new episodes on Comedy Central by 2008. All the original voices and production staff will be back. Katey Sagal, the voice of Leela, confirmed the return of the show on an appearance on Craig Ferguson’s “Late Late Show.” John DiMaggio, the voice of Bender, confirmed the news in a TVSquad.com comment. He says they are looking forward to getting into the studio in July to record new episodes.

If you’re as big a fan of Futurama as I am then this is great news. Unfortunately we will have to wait until 2007/2008 for the new episodes, but we’ve waited this long and we still have the Futurama reruns and DVDs. Kudos to Craig on the publicity; he’s been doing a great job with that show.

Queen: The Show Must Go On

In keeping with my earlier interest in metal sparked by VH1 and their metal month, here is a video of Queen playing at the VH1 Rock Honors. Paul Rodgers joins Queen as the lead singer.

Love Monkey

For those who enjoy failed television shows, I just realized that the character of Wayne from the short-lived series “Love Monkey” is actually Teddy Geiger and he is a real musician. I can only describe his music as powerful acoustic. You can check out his website here and buy his album here.

Update: According to Wikipedia the girl in his new video is Kristen from Laguna Beach. In case you cared. And here’s the video:

Garden State

I just finished watching Garden State for the umpteenth time and I’ve realized it is my favorite movie. I can watch it time and time again and not enjoy it any less, plus it has Natalie Portman in it. The story is just so sincere, so real and the music is an example of some great indy-type music. Natalie’s acting is spot on and emotional, and the story is well crafted.
